Garcia alleged that Jen Shah confided in her about the nationwide telemarketing scam before Shah's arrest in March 2021 during an appearance on "Watch What Happens Live" with Andy Cohen. Garcia reacted to Andy Cohen's question on how she learned about Shah's involvement by saying, "For real, she honestly told me." Garcia further claimed that Shah had briefed her on the scheme's inner workings and invited her to participate. She declined categorically and called on her Secret Service contact for support. Garcia said in the Season 4 premiere of "RHOSLC" that she had testified against Jen Shah as a witness in her fraud case after learning about the plot and consulting with a member of the Secret Service, who warned her to avoid Shah. She stressed that she had not initiated a case against Shah because the matter had previously been investigated for the better part of a decade. Garcia revealed that she had not spoken to Shah in years, but that she had heard the former Miss Universe and her family were "furious" that she had joined the cast of "RHOSLC." After pleading guilty to scamming multiple people, particularly the elderly, Jen Shah was sentenced to five and a half years in jail. While incarcerated, she has been generating headlines and interacting with other inmates.
