McKeyla, Camryn, Adrienne and Bryden decide to track down the source of their strange readings. They pinpoint to an abandoned well in Enchanted Forest. They didn't know Evie already shut it down, so they opened it. Whatever strange thing that Evie saw escapes from the well. McKeyla, Camryn, Adrienne and Bryden fall asleep. The dark cloudy thing that escaped the well go after everyone in Auradon. The villains are actually happy about it like they were expecting it to happen. They believe that the shadowy thing will not touch their children because their children are evil too. Cruella doesn't believe her son is evil enough and she worries for her son's safe return home. Mal tries to save Ben, but it's already too late. The shadowy creature found Ben and Mal before they could reach the Isle. Ben is knocked down and he also falls asleep. Mal has a strange effect on the creature. She lost all her magic, but she behaves like she has magic against them. Evie comes to her rescue, but Evie is knocked down. Almost everyone is knocked down except Carlos, Mal, Jay and Freddie. Mal and Carlos wonder why they were spared. It turns out the shadows don't like people who are too extraordinary. They left alone Mal because she was too ordinary. She was cursed with ordinariness. Even though Mal is extraordinary, the shadows think she is not. Audrey is the only one who could read the creature's minds. Audrey argues she should be spared or the shadowy creature will not be able to tell anyone what it wants. Audrey is spared.
